Last Friday, January 8th, the EPA announced that it is creating $5 million in grants to fund programs that will fight climate change. The grants will be available to both international and U.S organizations.
According to the EPA news release, the grants will be through the Methane to Markets Partnerships, which is a public-private partnership, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas pollution.
If an organization wants to apply for a grant, they must first apply to the partnership if they have not already done so. The EPA expects to award about 35 different grants that will range anywhere between $100,000 to $750,000.
According to the EPA, they hope to receive proposals from organizations that “support feasibility studies, technology transfer, deployment of technology, training, methane emission inventories, and other activities that promote methane capture and use.”
The due date for the proposals is April 15th, 2010 by 1:00 p.m. Eastern time. Additionally, after the review process, the EPA hopes to give out the grants by the end of 2010.
$5 Million? That would not pay to fight climate change in my backyard! Lol!
