The General Services Administration recently announced that it updated the federal privately owned vehicle reimbursement rates. These new rates went into effect on January 1st, 2010.
The new rates are as follows:
Airplane – $1.29 per mile
Automobile if no government owned available – $0.50 per mile
Automobile if government owned available – $0.285 per mile
Automobile if committed to use government owned vehicle – $0.125 per mile
Motorcycle – $0.47 per mile
These new rates were developed with the collaboration of GSA, The Department of Defense, The Department of Transportation, as well as the government employee’s union representatives. They were also developed following careful analysis of the cost of operating each of the different modes of transportation.
