Napolitano to Visit Spain to Discuss Terrorism, Transnational Crime

Janet-NapolitanoSecretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano will travel to Madrid, Spain to attend the U.S.-European Union Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial Troika meeting, where she will discuss international cooperation to protect against terrorism and transnational crime, Press Secretary Clark Stevens announced yesterday.

Napolitano will assess progress made on the joint declaration on strengthening the international civil aviation system she and her EU counterparts issued in Toledo, Spain, in January. She will also discuss cooperative cybersecurity efforts.

Stevens also said the secretary will travel to Barcelona as well to meet with DHS officers working side-by-side with Spanish customs to ensure resilient and secure commerce through the Container Security Initiative.
