DHS Unveils Initiatives to Enhance E-Verify

2 mins read

e-verify-logoYesterday, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Alejandro Mayorkas announced three initiatives designed to strengthen the efficiency and accuracy of the E-Verify system.

These new programs include an agreement with the Department of Justice (DOJ) to streamline legal proceedings for E-Verify misuse and discrimination, a telephone hotline for workers seeking E-Verify information and new training videos in both Spanish and English focusing on E-Verify procedures, policies, employee rights and employer responsibilities.

Secretary Napolitano said, “E-Verify is a smart, simple and effective tool that helps employers across the country maintain a legal workforce.  The initiatives announced today will provide essential information to workers about their rights and ensure that E-Verify is used fairly while bolstering the Department’s efforts to protect critical employment opportunities.”

Director Mayorkas added, “we look forward to working with our colleagues in the Department of Justice to ensure the continued integrity and improvement of E-Verify.”

The memorandum of agreement between USCIS and DOJ establishes a streamlined process to address cases of discrimination and employer misuse of E-Verify and cements jurisdictional protocol for referring matters requiring further review.

The two new training videos were created by the DHS Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties and can be found at www.dhs.gov/e-verify or www.youtube.com/ushomelandsecurity.

The USCIS E-Verify help line will now offer employees information about the E-Verify process and help in completing the Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification).  The help line will also accept complaints about possible discrimination or employer misuse of the E-Verify program. The hotline number is (888) 897-7781 and will be activated on April 5, 2010.

  1. The US government lied to us yet again. The fence that we see in video’s is not the original construction designed by Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) Initially his concept was a two-layer fence barrier, that had a no-mans-land in between. It gave the US Border Patrol vehicles rapid transit across the miles, of open desert. Like all forms of serious immigration enforcement it was underfunded by Sen. Harry Reid, Speaker Pelosi and a whole bunch of corrupt politicians, on either side of the aisle. Its all to do with corporate welfare. From any distance all these immigration tools, are–ONLY SEEN TO WORK? In truth these morons undermine, compromise any system that actually has a chance of functioning. Its has been a bargaining chip for Illinois Rep. Luis Gutierrez who mysteriously changed his mind for voting the President Obama health Care Reform, after the man in the White House committed himself to another illegal immigrant AMNESTY. If Amnesty passes the American taxpayer is going to be in a whole world of financial hurt.

Behind closed doors away from prying eyes of the general public the cards are already stacked against us. As we have seen E-Verify nearly ended up on the funeral pyre, as with the police apprehension law 287(g). Ice raids have already slowed down and the No-Match letter to employers rescinded. Behind our backs Homeland Security Madam has cut budgets for the fence and other needed enforcement. Probably to patronize Mexico whose poor uneducated population is moving here. If the Fence had been built to the original specifications, with the wide space in between for agent reconnaissance, very few individuals or groups of illegal aliens, drug smugglers, traffickers, terrorists and other criminals would be caught. IN TRUTH THE ONLY LAW THAT WOULD STOP THE ILLEGAL ALIEN INVASION FOR GOOD, IS MAKING ENTRY A FELONY?. NumbersUSA for the real truth.
