A group of business and industry organizations is asking Congress to bolster federal agencies’ access to “competitive sourcing,” according to a Federal Computer Week report.
The Business Coalition for Fair Competition, which encompasses 31 organizations, sent a letter to the House Appropriations Committee, urging it to pass spending bills that are “free of damaging language that inhibits the ability of federal agencies to contract with the private sector, including small business, and to taxpayers.â€
As Federal Computer Week reports, competitive sourcing, which is governed by the Office of Management and Budget’s Circular A-76, gives agencies the ability to outsource to the private sector if it’s cheaper.
The coalition cites recent House votes that strike “anti-A-76†language from agency appropriations. The coalition contends such legislation limits competition and innovation.
