Executive Mosaic, the parent company of ExecutiveGov and a stable of online news properties geared toward the government-contracting industry, announced today the launch of the summer issue of its quarterly print magazine, GovConExec.

The latest issue, which marks GovConExec’s second year of publishing, features an in-depth look into the latest cybersecurity threat: the insider threat, the threat posed by malicious inside actors.

GovConExec, which traces the phenomenon from the 1980s Cold War spy heyday to the WikiLeaks document dump, provides a look into what the threat means for federal cybersecurity efforts and how government contractors are increasingly playing a role in combating it.

The pages of the magazine also host a new section devoted to various expert opinions on a some of hottest issues in federal IT and technology. FedTech Soundoff features executives from Google, HP and General Dynamics IT and more sharing thoughts on everything from the looming deadlines of IPv6 to efforts to update FISMA, the security guidelines for federal IT networks.

The magazine also examines an obscure Defense Department office, known as the Defense Security Service, tasked with the oversight of contracting firms with foreign ownership. As it turns out, an increasing number of foreign companies are operating this so-called FOCI policy.

In addition, GovConExec writers reported on the response of key intelligence officials following the Arab Spring and opportunities for intelligence firms, as well as a report on efforts to stem improper Medicaid and Medicare payments using data analytics.
