Federal acquisition officials are being nudged to make sure the information about contractors federal officials upload to the Federal Procurement Data System is correct and timely, according to a recent memo from Dan Gordon, the administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy.
OFPP initially issued guidance in October 2009, directing agency acquisition officers to provide more information in the database. And as FierceGovernmentIT reported this week, there is also a Federal Acquisition Regulation rule requiring agencies to certify in an annual report that information they provide to FPDS is correct.
The latest memo seeks to “standardize†that process, by providing templates ensuring agencies have policies and procedures for monitoring and improving their procurement data and for making sure contractors comply with reporting requirements.
“The government has a responsibility to continuously improve the quality of acquisition data and information,†Gordon’s memo reads. “The steps the agencies are taking to verify and validate this information, combined with our community’s efforts described above, are critical to improving the transparency of the acquisition process.â€
