OPM Sends Heat Wave Memo to Employees

Office of Personnel Management Director John Berry on Tuesday sent a memo to federal employees regarding the recent heat wave in Washington, D.C., and the surrounding areas.

The National Weather Service issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Friday and Saturday, with both days also being Code Red air-quality days.

“The U.S. Office of Personnel Management reminds federal agencies to be proactive in protecting the health and well-being of our employees,” Berry writes.

At 5:30 a.m. Friday, the temperature at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport was recorded at 85 degrees. The temperature was expected to exceed 100 degrees Friday, with the heat index hovering between 110 and 115.
