The White House has kicked off its third annual SAVE award competition, which is part of the administrations’ effort to modernize the government. The Savings Americans Value and Efficiency program allows federal workers to submit thousands of cost-cutting ideas to the Office of Management and Budget for review.
“We are relying on our military members and civilian employees around the world to rise to the president’s challenge again this year and submit innovative ideas for how we can operate the department more efficiently and effectively,†said Beth McGrath, the Defense Department’s deputy chief management officer.
The winner of the competition will present his or her idea to President Barack Obama at the White House, and dozens of other ideas will be included in the president’s next budget submission. Federal agencies have until July 29 to submit ideas, and finalists will be chosen in September.
