Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano unveiled a new public service announcement campaign Wednesday, aimed at educating the public on reporting suspicious activity to law enforcement.
The âIf You See Something, Say Somethingâ ads will be distributed to radio and television stations across the country. The ads present scenarios involving witnessing suspicious activity and advises viewers on how to report the activity to law enforcement.
âOur nationâs security is a shared responsibility and every citizen plays a critical role in identifying and reporting suspicious activities and threats,â Napolitano said during remarks at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Napolitano also announced a partnership between DHS and the Chamber. The Chamber will share the ads with its members and provide supporting campaign materials at its regional office.
I absolutely hate this campaign for one simple reason. We are not a nation of children. At least I hope not. This is something you tell kids in elementary school.
