The Energy Department on Thursday relaunched its website as part of its comprehensive website reform.

The new website was created through a complete overhaul of its front-end and back-end design. It now includes localized information, visualized information, interactive charts and interactive maps.

“This next phase is part of our ongoing commitment to empower consumers and businesses with the information, tools and services they need to save money, create jobs and find opportunities in the new energy economy,” Secretary Steven Chu said.

The department said the new website will save taxpayers $10 million annually.

The relaunch is an update to the department’s three cloud-first initiatives, using the open source content management system Drupal and moving to a cloud-first infrastructure on Blackmesh.
