President Barack Obama will address the nation Sept. 8 to unveil his new jobs plan, the White House announced Wednesday night.

According to C-SPAN, Obama sent a letter to House Speaker John Boehner Wednesday, requesting Sept. 7 to speak before a joint session of Congress.

Boehner replied with a letter of his own the House chamber would have to undergo a security sweep upon its opening Sept. 7, and requested Obama speak the following day instead.

The White House is hosting a discussion on jobs and infrastructure in Dallas Thursday, part of a series of “listening sessions” the White House Council on Jobs and Competitiveness organized to advise Obama on how the public and private sectors can work together to stimulate job creation and the economy.

  1. MSM (main sewer media) & the WH can spin this any way they want – and have. The POTUS must ask for a date to address congress. Either the WH was inept and never checked to see that there was a Republican debate that night or they were so arrogant that they just assumed they could preempt that to their advantage. Then *gasp* they were called out and have to play by the rules. My guess is it was 2 parts of the latter and 1 of the former. What a be ouch!
