Congress has beat the clock again, passing this afternoon a funding bill that avoids a government shutdown and keeps federal operations running for six weeks.

The House voted 352-66 on the Senate-approved spending bill that extends government funding through Nov. 18.

President Obama is expected to sign the bill ahead of a midnight deadline.

The new federal fiscal year began Friday but the House passed a shorter-term bill Thursday to extend government funding over the weekend, allowing for more time to pass the measure approved today.
