Defense Secretary Leon Panetta traveled to Fort Meade, Md. Saturday to observe technology demonstrations and participate in a cybersecurity briefing, American Forces Press Service reports.
Panetta met with Army Gen. Keith Alexander, director of the National Security Agency and commander of the U.S. Cyber Command.
Panetta also met with Central Security Service leaders and other leaders within NSA and Cyber Command.
The meeting focused on the nation’s defense capabilities against cyber attacks and improving information sharing between the Pentagon and intelligence community, AFPS reported.
Panetta commended the NSA’s and Cyber Command’s efforts to develop cyber capabilities to combat new threats.
