Two senators introduced a bill Friday to lower the maximum amount for reimbursement of government contractor salaries.

Sens. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) introduced the Common-Sense Contractor Compensation Act to lower the maximum reimbursement rate and extend the limit to all contracting employees.

Contracting firms have been allowed to charge the government $693,951 for the salaries of their top five employees.

The new bill, if passed, would limit government funded salaries from $693,951 to $400,000.

This is not the first bill the Senate has seen in regard to contractor pay reimbursement.

In September, the Senate reviewed a bill that would apply to the top five contractor executives and reduce the reimbursement rate from $700,000 to $200,000.
