U.S. Army executive Donald Adcock is joining the Energy Department as associate chief information officer for information technology services, Federal News Radio reports.

Adcock joins DOE from the Army Information Technology Agency, the Defense Department’s IT service provider, where he served as executive director.

His new post requires him to provide oversight for enterprise operations, customer care, infrastructure management and IT project management, the report said.

Adcock is moving to the Energy Department leadership team shortly after former CIO Mike Locatis’ departure for a position with the Department of Homeland Security.

Energy Deputy CIO Robert Brese is currently serving in Locatis’ position in the intermediary.

In addition to Locatis, DHS grabbed both former State Chief Information Security Officer John Streufert in January and Danny Toler, former State director of information resource management’s office of enterprise network management.

Adcock served in his post at the Army since 2010 and played a role in data center consolidation efforts as well as additional IT mission areas, the report said.

An agency spokesperson told Federal News Radio that John Berthiaume, the ITA’s deputy director, will serve as acting executive director.
