State Department executive Danny Toler is set to join the Department of Homeland Security’s cyber division, according to an announcement obtained by Federal News Radio.
Toler, State’s director of information resource management’s office of enterprise network management, will join the DHS’ office of cybersecurity and communications as director of federal network resilience.
Bobbie Stempfley, the deputy assistant secretary of the cybersecurity and communication office, announced Toler would join DHS in a department-wide email sent Wednesday.
Toler will oversee initiatives in order to develop a multidimensional method to conduct continuous monitoring for .gov domains, Stempfley said, according to the report.
He will establish .gov diagnostic processes and will integrate FNS activities, continuous diagnostics and prioritization work regarding updates to the Federal Information Security Management Act, Stempfley said in the email.
Toler is credited with aiding the State Department to implement trusted Internet connections, which allows agencies to share Internet connections.
Earlier this month, DHS appointed Energy Department Chief Information Officer Mike Locatis to be the agency’s new assistant secretary for cybersecurity and communications in the national protection and programs directorate.
Former State Chief Information Security Officer John Streufert also joined DHS in January as the director of the national cybersecurity division.
