Research firm Deltek recently published a forecast, saying that the primary cause of the reduction is less investment in hardware and information technology services.
Federal IT spending will go down from $120.8 billion this year to $110.5 billion in 2017, the firm said, according to Nicole Blake Johnson’s report.
However, Deltek also predicts continued IT spending increases in the healthcare, cybersecurity and software analytics fields.
Intelligence agencies and the Department of Veterans Affairs will see more IT funding, according to the forecast.
The Defense Department will see the most reductions, Deltek said, as contributing causes to less IT spending include ending the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and IT funding for overseas contingency operations.
