FBI Names Kevin Perkins Associate Deputy Director

FBI Director Robert S. Mueller announced Friday the bureau has selected 26-year veteran Kevin Perkins to succeed Thomas J. Harrington as associate deputy director, effective in mid-July.

The move comes as Harrington, a 27-year veteran, is scheduled to depart for a position in the private sector.

IMueller said Perkins will concentrate on personnel, budget, administration and infrastructure in his new position.

He joined the FBI as a special agent in January 1986 and investigated and supervised white-collar crime and public corruption in the Baltimore and Kansas City, Mo. field offices.

While at FBI headquarters, he worked in the bureau’s criminal investigative division and supervised insurance fraud and money laundering investigations.

As an assistant special agent in charge in Philadelphia, he was responsible for the white-collar crimes and computer intrusion programs .

Earlier this monthm the bureau announced Joseph Demarest will serve as an assistant director and lead the cyber division.
