GSA Cutting Typewriter, Trophy Contracts

1 min read

The General Services Administration is taking a new step in modifying its multiple award schedules by eliminating 8,000 contracts, the agency announced Thursday.

GSA will no longer award contracts typewriters, photographic equipment, trophies and commemorative or promotional items.

Each of those contracts costs $3,000 per year to administer and GSA hopes to save $24 million pear year

Multiple award schedules controls the purchasing power of the federal government to provide products and services to the government through contracts with private companies.

Companies that recently tried to get into the schedules have doubled in number and contract modifications have tripled, GSA said.
