GSA Holds Line for FY 2013 Travel Rates

1 min read

Travel reimbursement rates for federal employees will remain the same in fiscal year 2013, GovExec reports.

Citing a General Services Administration announcement, Kellie Lunney reports GSA is holding fiscal 2013 reimbursement rates for lodging and other travel expenses at fiscal 2012 levels.

Standard lodging rates, covering hotels in 2,600 counties nationwide, are currently $77 a night and the standard per diem meal rate is $46.

The Office of Management and Budget had previously instructed agencies to reduce all travel spending in fiscal 2013 by 30 percent from fiscal 2010 levels, Lunney reports.

Dan Tangherlini, GSA’s acting administrator, announced in July the agency is cutting performance bonuses for senior executives and putting a temporary hiring freeze in place.

He said these actions are part of an agency-wide review of structure and compensation.
