Steve Kempf is expected return as a senior adviser to acting General Services Administration head Dan Tangherlini in September, when his 60-day medical leave is scheduled to complete.

According to Federal News Radio, GSA is searching for Kempf’s successor as commissioner of the Federal Acquisition Service.

Tangherlini told GSA employees of Kempf’s return in an email obtained by reporter Jason Miller, saying Kempf would take on an unspecified role within GSA.

GSA placed a job posting advertising the FAS commissioner position on USAJobs.gov Sept. 17, Miller reports.

Assistant Commissioner Mary Davie stepped in to lead FAS on an acting basis when Kempf began his leave in July.
