The Global CIO Community has awarded Jill Singer, National Reconnaissance Office chief information officer, with this year’s breakaway leaders award.

FedScoop reports that Singer was one of 10 CIOs to receive the award at the Global CIO Executive Summit, held in Aspen, CO.

The awards were given to CIO’s “revolutionizing their organization’s competitive position in the evolving economy through visionary leadership and business transformation.”

Betty Sapp, director of the NRO, said  that Singer has helped the agency improve its IT Enterprise.

The 10 CIOs awarded by Global CIO came from both the public and private sector and were chosen by an independent panel of judges and peer-based voting process.
