Navy Rear Adm. Randall Hendrickson Named MDA Aegis BMD Program Exec

Navy Rear Adm. Randall Hendrickson has been appointed program executive for the Missile Defense Agency‘s Aegis ballistic missile defense program, the Defense Department announced Tuesday.

The Aegis MBD program combines the Lockheed Martin-made Aegis Weapon System with the Raytheon-made Standard Missile-3.

Prior to this appointment, Hendrickson served as MDA’s deputy director since November 2009.

According to the Navy, his shore assignments have included service as military assistant to the principal deputy under secretary of defense for Policy; force planner in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Strategy; requirements officer for the Navy Theater Wide Ballistic Missile Defense Program; and force air warfare officer at commander, Naval Surface Force Pacific.

He has also served in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations’ Surface Warfare Directorate as missile defense branch head.

In that same announcement, the Pentagon also said Rear Adm. Sean Filipowski would elevate to director of intelligence at Cyber Command (click here to read more on his background and experience).
