Dick Durbin: Congress Fiscal Cliff Talks Making Little Progress

1 min read

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said Sunday lawmakers have made very little progress over the past 10 days on avoiding the fiscal cliff of tax increases and spending cuts, Reuters reports.

Jason Lange writes Durbin made the comment in an interview with ABC’s “This Week” program, with Durbin adding Democrats might be open to reforming the Medicare and Medicaid programs to help solve the financial crisis.

One Medicare reform Durbin indicated Democrats might accept is requiring higher-income seniors to pay more for their care, the report said.

Durbin is the number two Democrat in the Senate.

Also on “This Week,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said that he will support increasing tax revenues by closing loopholes in the tax code as opposed to raising rates, adding Republicans will support revenue increases if Democrats are willing to support entitlement reform.
