The House will likely have six new committee chairmen when the new session starts in January, The Hill newspaper reports.

Molly Hooper writes House Republican leaders made their choices Tuesday and the full GOP caucus should ratify the changes Wednesday.

Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) was selected to chair the Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) for the Science Committee and Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.) was named chair for the Foreign Affairs panel.

Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) will become the new Judiciary Committee chairman; Rep. Bill Shuster (R-Pa.) will lead the Transportation Committee and Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) will head the Financial Services Committee.

Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) will likely stay on in his current post after receiving a waiver to continue past his six-year term.

The chairman posts for the Ethics and House Administration committees have yet to be decided, according to the report.
