NBC News: David Petraeus Resigns From CIA, Mike Morell a Possible Successor

According to a report from NBC News, David Petraeus has resigned as CIA director with Deputy Director Mike Morell being the likely candidate to serve as acting director.

Andrea Mitchell and Robert Windrem report Morell’s promotion would initially be on a temporary basis, but given on the understanding he would take the job on a permanent basis later.

George Tenet took the same track to the leadership post, becoming the CIA’s deputy director in July 1995, then elevated to acting director following the resignation of John Deutch in December 1996 and became director on a permanent basis in July 1997.

  1. Not only didn’t he succeed Petraeus, he was forced to resign and replaced by a secretary reject from the office of our socialist mentor.
