Air Traffic Controllers Union: Sequestration Furloughs 2K Workers

1 min read

A union representing air traffic controllers claims than 2,000 of them could be furloughed if sequestration takes effect starting Jan. 2, GovExec reports.

The National Air Traffic Controllers Association estimates the Federal Aviation Administration would see an 8.2 percent cut in operating funds under the sequester, Kedar Pavgi writes.

Small airports would see most of the job losses and positions that could be affected include safety inspectors and engineers, the union says in a report.

The union also believes the sequester would affect funds for the agency’s large NextGen transformation project, according to Pavgi’s report.
