OMB Seeking to Ramp Up Strategic Sourcing

1 min read

The Office of Management and Budget is asking federal agencies to increase their use of strategic sourcing contracts as part of efforts to manage acquisitions, Fedscoop reports.

David Stegon writes Acting Director Jeff Zients created an Interagency Strategic Sourcing Leadership Council to lead efforts to increase strategic sourcing across the federal government.

That council would consult with the Chief Acquisition Officers Council, the Chief Financial Officers Council, the Chief Information Officers Council the Performance Improvement Council and other interagency councils as needed.

The SSLC will be required to give OMB a set of recommendations by March 2013 regarding management strategies for acquiring goods and services such as information technology commodities, Fedscoop reports.

Zients also required the General Services Administration to implement five new government-wide strategic sourcing solutions for fiscal years 2013 and 2014, according to Stegon.
