Paul Brubaker, a former deputy chief information officer at the Defense Department, is returning to the Pentagon as director of planning and performance management.

Federal Computer Week reports he will assume his new position Monday and join the staff of Elizabeth McGrath, deputy chief management officer.

Brubaker’s organization is responsible for the Quadrennial Defense Review and planning the department’s business operations.

The directorate also conducts enterprise-wide performance management activities.

Previously, he served as the Pentagon’s deputy CIO in the Clinton administration and as the Transportation Department’s administrator for research and innovative technology in the George W. Bush administration.

Brubaker also held positions in the private sector at companies such as Cisco, where he led the Internet business solutions group in the North American public sector.
