Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) plans to introduce legislation aimed at consolidating agency reports identified by the Office of Management and Budget as either outdated, duplicative or not relevant.

OMB highlighted 376 reports from 29 agencies that it said could be eliminated or modified, Warner’s office said.

Under the Government Performance and Results Modernization Act, proposed by Warner in 2010, OMB was required to publish the list and identify reports for modification or elimination.

“If these reports are sitting on a shelf collecting dust, then it’s time for them to go,” Warner said.

In an interview with Federal News Radio, Warner said Congress has asked agencies to provide lawmakers more data but has not gone through the reports.

Warner told the station a proposed bill is aimed at giving agencies time and resources to review the data and make adjustments.
