NATO has announced that training and partnership are its top priorities when the draw-down in Afghanistan is complete, according to an American Forces Press Service article.

Jean-Paul Palomeros, NATO supreme allied commander for transformation and French air force Gen., said these priorities are part of NATO’s preparation for the future.

“Today’s environment is marked by very important … changes in the strategic and political landscape and the economic environment,” he said.

Speaking at a conference in Brussels, January 14, Palomeros said NATO members will participate in e-learning and field, individual and group training through the connective forces initiative.

Palomeros added the Allied Command Operations has been in-charge of the training since it began in December.

NATO’s chiefs of defense staff will meet this week and its defense ministers will meet next month to develop a plan to reinforce capabilities and training priorities.
