On Tuesday, the Senate Intelligence committee voted 12-3 to send the vote to the full Senate on the confirmation of  John Brennan as the new CIA director, according to an Associated Press article.

Michael Morell, the CIA’s deputy director, has been acting director since David Petraeus resigned in November.

“He’s got a whole chain of duties as the No. 2 and it’s hard to be No. 1 at the same time,” Sen. Dianne Feinstein, committee’s chairwoman said Tuesday of Morell.

“This is an agency that most of us think needs oversight, needs supervision and needs direction. It needs a director.”

In order to agree to confirm Brennan and not filibuster the confirmation, Republicans demanded that the Obama administration hand over classified documents about the  Benghazi attacks and secret legal opinions justifying the use of lethal drone strikes against terror suspects.

Feinstein said Republicans have received a bulk of the documents and are now waiting on “a few odds and ends that need to come.”
