EmptyOfficeFEMAThe Department of Housing and Urban Development is planning to reserve seven working days between May and September for shutting down completely as it implements sequestration cuts, Federal Times reports.

Stephen Losey writes HUD will furlough its entire 9,100-person workforce for one day per pay period, where headquarters and field offices will all be closed.

Not even mission-critical employees are exempt from the furloughs as they would work on those days, according to the report.

Those employees would be furloughed on other days, Losey writes.

Jerry Brown, a department spokesman, told Federal Times HUD wants to schedule the furloughs on either Mondays or Fridays.
