IRSbuildingDavid Fisher, currently chief financial officer at the Government Accountability Office, has been appointed chief risk officer at the Internal Revneue Service, The Hill newspaper reported Tuesday.

Bernie Becker writes acting IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel also appointed Werfel as his senior adviser and Fisher will be responsible for helping improve the agency’s internal operations.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew asked Fisher to hold agency personnel accountable for targeting political advocacy groups and prevent similar events from happening again, according to the report.

Werfel will appear before Congress on Monday, The Hill reports.

He was appointed to lead the agency on a temporary basis earlier this month.
