Jeff Zients has left the Office of Management and Budget after four years at the agency as deputy director for management and chief performance officer, Federal News Radio reported Friday.

Jason Miller writes that Zients has twice served as acting director during his time at the agency.

His most recent stint as acting OMB head occurred between January 2012 until the Senate confirmation of Sylvia Burwell as director.

Zients also temporarily led the budget office between July and November 2010 after Peter Orszag resigned.

According to Federal Times, Friday was also scheduled to be the last day for Shelley Metzenbaum as OMB associate director for performance and personnel management.

President Barack Obama has nominated White House economic adviser Brian Deese as OMB deputy director but the Senate has not yet started the confirmation process for him, Federal Times reports.
