1 min read

DHSThe Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday cancelled the 2013 GFIRST National Conference and Expo due to sequestration and other budget cuts, Federal News Radio reported Wednesday.

Jason Miller writes the five-day event scheduled to kick off Aug. 25 in Grapevine, Texas, had been expected to showcase cybersecurity platforms for the private and public sectors.

The article says the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team cited reasons similar to that of other organizations that have called off events because financial constraints limited the attendance of delegates.

Miller reports other agencies that called off conferences due to reduced budgets include the General Services Administration and the Defense Department.
