The Defense Information Systems Agency says it will soon acquire a mobile device management system from an unnamed contractor, Defense Systems reported Monday.
Henry Kenyon writes the system has passed a series of tests DISA has been conducting for several years.
The system supports the Defense Departmentâs mobility plan to outfit all uniformed and civilian personnel with mobile devices intended to provide users information at all times, Kenyon reports..
DISA has been testing and modifying the MDM system with the goal of deploying its services to mobile devices with no reliability or security issues.
Robert Carey, DoD principal deputy chief information officer, told a Defense Systems seminar Thursday the military is also moving forward on other fronts as part of the enterprise-wide mobile implementation plan.
Carey said those plans include collaborating with vendors to make its network enterprise accessible to more devices and redrawing policies and requirements for bring-your-own-devices.
They probably are the most threatening of all, and the fact that many
organizations have no restrictions on the use of
Internet over mobile devices has helped the proliferation
of mobile devices, platforms, and applications.
An MDM solution in the cloud allows IT administrators
to implement different security profiles for different communities and manage a wide
array of mobile devices.
