Ben Cardin: Sequestration Likely to Continue Through in FY 2014

1 min read

BudgetSen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) said Wednesday he does not forsee the possibility sequestration being cancelled by the start of fiscal year 2014 on Oct. 1, GovExec reported Thursday.

Kellie Lunney writes that Cardin told civilian employees at Fort Meade, Md. Congress should end the sequester by the fall and it will not get easier next year to undo the cuts.

Cardin described sequestration as “horrible” and as something that the majority of the people do not fully understand yet.

“We need to pass budgets so the agencies don’t have to guess as to how much money they have, and they can give you a predictable guide-path,” he said, according to the report.

Lunney reports Congress also has to address the debt ceiling by November in order to avoid default.
