Arthur Gonzalez Assumes VA Deputy CIO Role; Stephen Warren Comments

gonzalezArthur Gonzalez, former senior vice president and chief information officer at TISTA Science and Technology Corp., has joined the Veterans Affairs Department as deputy CIO for service, delivery and engineering, Fedscoop reported Thursday.

Dan Verton writes that Gonzalez assumed his new position Sept. 23 and succeeds Wilbert Berrios, who will serve as Gonzalez’s adviser during the  transition period.

VA CIO Stephen Warren said in an email obtained by Fedscoop that Gonzalez brings experience in government information technology, application development and project management to the department.

Before joining TISTA, Gonzalez worked as the Internal Revenue Service‘s CIO for five years, managing  a 7,000-employee organization and a $2 billion tax budget, according to the report.

Verton says TISTA is helping VA update its financial and reporting systems and maintain audit readiness under a newly awarded $25 million contract.
