Senate Panel Confirms Terrell McSweeny as Next FTC Commissioner

McSweenyThe Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation has once again approved the nomination of Terrell McSweeny as the next commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission, Reuters reported Monday.

Diane Bartz writes that the Senate panel approved McSweeny in November 2013 but the nomination expired at the close of the legislative session.

McSweeny was first nominated to the job in June 2013.

She most recently served as the Department of Justice Anti-Trust Division’s chief counsel for competition policy.

She was also a former domestic policy adviser to Vice President Joe Biden.

The full Senate is yet to release a date to vote on McSweeny’s approval.
