Mikhail Koval Appointed Ukraine’s Defense Minister

army stock photoUkraine’s parliament voted 251-63 Tuesday to elect Col. Gen. Mikhail Koval as the country’s new defense minister, Defense News reported Wednesday.

Jaroslaw Adamowski writes that Koval most recently served in the country’s vorder guard and will succeed the retiring Adm. Ihor Tenyukh.

Additionally, Ukraine’s acting President Oleksandr Turchynov announced that his government plans to increase funding for its armed forces.
