FAA Seeks Partners to Build UAS Research, Training Hub

Federal aviation administration (FAA)The Federal Aviation Administration is on the lookout for government, industry and academic partners to build a center of excellence for unmanned aerial systems within the next year.

FAA officials issued a presolicitation notice for the project on March 31 and plans to award UAS research cooperative agreements and project funding through a grant program.

Areas of interest listed in the notice include air traffic control interoperability, airport ground operations, pilot training and certification, human factors and privacy practices.

The FAA intends to release a draft request for proposal and publicly discuss program requirements in May.
