Joseph Klimavicz, formerly chief information officer at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for seven years, will serve in the same capacity at the Justice Department starting next month, Information Week reported Friday.

Elena Malykhina writes that Klimavicz will succeed Luke McCormack, who was named CIO of the Department of Homeland Security in November, and that acting Justice CIO Kevin Deeley will return to his full-time role as CIO.

Klimavicz, a 25-year government veteran, will manage DOJ’s information technology programs and services as CIO.

He oversaw NOAA’s Homeland Security Program prior to his CIO role at that agency, is a former director of the Defense Department‘s enterprise services and oversaw infrastructure operations at the former National Imagery and Mapping Agency.
