Nuclear powerplantThe U.S. and some of its allies will reopen talks about the Iran’s nuclear program this week in order for negotiators to begin drafting a final accord by May, CNN reported Friday.

Negotiations will build upon an interim nuclear agreement reached between Iran and the U.N. Security Council’s five permanent members in January, the network reports.

CNN reports that deal lifts some sanctions against the Middle Eastern nation in return for scaling back nuclear development efforts.

The Obama administration has warned that violating restrictions on oil exports from Iran could lead to new economic sanctions.
