Sharon Bulova, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairperson, is hoping for the Silver Line transit system to open in July, WTOP reported Sunday.Max Smith and Ari Ashe write Dulles Transit Partners could complete the project over the next 14 days to obtain certification from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority before the end of April.
A source told WTOP that Silver Line could be turned over to Washington Metro in that same month following MWAA’s certification.
Metro is expected to test the trains for passenger safety requirements for a window period of up to 90 days, according to the report.
The MWAA is set to perform additional Silver Line evaluations over the next 10 days, WTOP reports.
