Doug Wise, a veteran of leadership and operational roles at the CIA, will join the Defense Intelligence Agency as deputy director to succeed the retiring David Shedd.
Wise will fully assume the new role in September following a transition period in August, DIA said Tuesday.
âI had the privilege of working alongside Doug while we were in Iraq, and I witnessed his keen intelligence insights, commitment to community integration, and first-hand knowledge of DIAâs unique capabilities and skill sets,â said Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, DIA director.
Flynn and Shedd both announced their retirements earlier this month and plan to leave DIA by the fall.
Wise’s government career also includes a tour of duty in the Pentagon with the National Reconnaissance Office.
Prior to the NRO, the former Army infantry officer completed a post-graduate fellowship at Los Alamos National Laboratory and earned masterâs degrees from both the Dartmouth College School of Arts and Sciences and the Thayer School of Engineering.
Wise is a West Point graduate who completed a program at the Armyâs Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
