The Office of Federal Procurement Policy has modified its certification requirements for contracting officers in a move Acting Administrator Lesley Field said aims to strengthen their capabilities, Federal News Radio reported Friday.

Field told the radio station that the new classes should be of interest to officers with Level III certification who are interested in continuing to receive education credits.

Jason Miller writes updates to the policy include eight key changes that intend to bring civilian agents in line with their Defense Department counterparts.

OFPP added 100 hours of training seeks to highlight areas such as service, supply contracting and cost and price analysis.

Elective courses in acquisition law, advanced contract pricing and industry knowledge are also now offered in higher levels.
