Carolyn Colvin Gets Nod as Social Security Administration Head

Carolyn ColvinPresident Barack Obama acknowledged Carolyn Colvin’s work as acting chief of the Social Security Administration with a planned nomination that would formalize her role as commissioner.

Colvin, deputy commissioner of social security for the SSA for over three years, has also been serving as the agency’s acting commissioner since February 2013,the White House said Friday.

“I am grateful for Carolyn’s past service in various roles at the Social Security Administration, and I am confident that she will serve the American people well in her new role,” Obama said.

Colvin’s previous work included leadership roles with Amerigroup, the departments of Transportation and Health and Human Services in the state, district and county levels.

She is a Bachelor of Arts and MBA graduate from Morgan State University.
