Obama to Nominate Archuleta Adviser Earl Gay as OPM Deputy Director

Earl-GayRetired U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Earl Gay will be nominated by President Barack Obama to the deputy director position at the Office of Personnel Management, the White House announced Wednesday.

Gay has supported OPM Director Katherine Archuleta as senior adviser following his retirement from military service in 2013.

He previously served as commander of the Navy Recruiting Command, deputy chairman of the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee and commandant of Naval District Washington, among other administrative and commanding roles.

A naval aviator, Gay has been deployed to sea onboard aircraft carriers and to onshore assignments as a search-and-rescue and instructor pilot.

He also participated in operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
